Bp's Song of the Week #102: Tara MacLean "Light of the Stable"
It’s partially due to the hectic and busy pace of this time of year, but it’s also partially because I’ve been overdosing on large amounts of Trans-Siberian Orchestra live shows, Queen, and Savatage that I’ve found it hard to both set aside time for the Song of the Week, but also to be inspired by something enough to write about it. Thankfully my Picks of 2010 list was almost complete by the time this trio of bombast took me for a ride.

I have been listening to some Holiday tunes though as it’s tough to escape them this time of year and because two of my favorite artists (TSO and Tara MacLean) have seasonal recordings. So instead of waiting as I was going to until closer to the end of the month I’m going to toss this one out there. As much as I love TSO, this has been my favorite song to listen to this time of year (it used to be Extreme’s “Christmas Time Again”). And I’m not a really religious guy, more spiritual if anything, but it’s Tara’s multi-layered harmonies of her own vocal (just listen at 1:10-1:18 your heart will melt) and the guitar swells provided by Bill Bell that make this song a masterpiece.

Light of the Stable

It’s why I love Tara’s voice and music, rolled up into one beautiful holiday song.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
