Song of the Week #16 - Great Big Sea "Here and Now"
Now, this isn't the best Great Big Sea track ever, but it's one of the best from the upcoming album, Fortune's Favour. If you're looking for their best, see the links at the bottom, cause we got 'em - oh, yes, we got 'em!

What? You don't know who GBS is? Think Newfoundland, great harmonies, even better melodies, lots of different traditional instruments, lots of songs about ships, and fish, and dead horses, and acoustics, folk, celtic inspired, Eastern Canadian toe-tapping....well, it's great stuff! They are one of my many Canadian musical loves (the list is really endless isn't it?!). They combine both traditional Newfie folk and modern pop/rock, this track is of the latter variety (for more traditional see the links at the bottom).

Click the band photo to launch the GBS Player:

The player will auto-start with the new single, "Walk on the Moon," (a very good track, a bit over-produced maybe), but click on the 3rd cut for "Here and Now" and you'll be all set.

It's a great summer song - I'll let the music do the talking on this one instead of blabbing away.

More Great Big Sea:
"A Boat Like Gideon Brown" (live)
"Boston and St. Johns" (live)
"The Night Pat Murphy Died" (live)
"Old Polina" (live)
