Song of the Week #32: Brian Vander Ark "Lily White Way" (live)
Brian Vander Ark – “Lily White Way”

This must be the month of the ex-frontmen turned singer/songwriter.

The vocal melody, the tone of the acoustic – it’s a great performance. His description of life in the suburbs and the neighbors.

I wasn’t a big fan of the Verve Pipe when they were popular, but I loved their last album, Underneath. I didn’t hear anything about them after that until James Kinne (good friend and amazing singer/songwriter) suggested I get Brian’s first solo release which I did on his recommendation and it was great! Again, though, I lost track of him until I found a copy of his new album kicking around the office recently and fell for this track and others on it. His imagery and voice are just wonderful. Listen and enjoy!

There is another great version of Lily White Way" in someone’s house (I guess for part of the year he does a series called “Lawn Chairs and Living Rooms” and tours fan's houses – how cool is that?!).
